Saving the Show

INFO ABOUT CANCELLATION

As some of you may know, it has been a LONG time since any new JN episodes have aired. There are still several episodes left in season three, which is definitely a great thing to look forward too, but we also need to look ahead even further than that. Nick has been spreading out the episodes pretty thin, which is a trend we’ve seen with many Nick shows that got cancelled. Take Hey Arnold for example; Nick chose to discontinue it, and so took the last few episodes they had and played them out over a very long time. And now, the same thing is happening to Jimmy Neutron.

Nickelodeon has not ordered a season 4 and there is NO indication whatsoever that they intend to do so. If we want Nick to keep Jimmy Neutron alive, we need to remind them how much we love the show and that we want to keep it on the air! So, please, we need everyone’s help if we are to prevent Jimmy Neutron from getting canceled entirely. Obviously, writing letters to Nick online at Nick.com helps, but if you could PLEASE write an actual, handwritten letter, then that would greatly increase our chances of succeeding. Think about it…if every JN fan wrote 1 letter, we could make such a HUGE difference. Here are some ideas to keep in mind while writing.

WHAT TO INCLUDE IN YOUR LETTER

    1) Always handwrite your letter. Nickelodeon even says they value handwritten letters ten times more than electronic mail letters, so just grab a pencil and put it to paper! It'll be less work for you in the long run!
    2) Absolutely no hate mail (not that I think you would ever do that anyway). Nickelodeon throws all their hate mail away, so don't even bother. Your letter should clearly define why you think Jimmy should stay on the air. You don't have to kiss up to "the man," but insulting him won't get you anywhere either.
    3) Don't just talk about what's in saving Jimmy for you. Talk about what's in it for Nickelodeon. It's their third top show (and sometimes it's second, beating out The Fairly OddParents.) Tell them what a loss it will be to them to kill off one of their most highly rated shows.
    4) Compare Jimmy to other shows. Why is Jimmy better than those other Nicktoons? Is Jimmy Neutron a better role model than Timmy Turner? Is Cindy Vortex someone more respectable than Angelica Pickles? When is Sheen Estevez funny when Tucker Foley isn't? And you don't have to stick to just Nicktoons, either. Tell them why you often turn on Nickelodeon to view Jimmy when you could've turned on Cartoon Network to watch The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy? Or That's So Raven?

Write several letters. The more productive you are, the better. Toy around with different writing styles-- e.g. compare and contrast, persuasive, descriptive.
Send your letters here:
Nickelodeon
1515 Broadway
New York, NY 10036

Or, if you live on the west coast, you have two options:

Nickelodeon
2600 Colorado Blvd., 2nd Floor.
Santa Monica, CA. 90404
-or-
Nickelodeon
231 West Olive Avenue
Burbank, CA 91502

But, uh, what do I write in my letter? Well, let's review some reasons WHY we love JN. We all know we do, but apparently Nick doesn't seem to realize it's popularity. Here's some evidence you might want to mention when writing a letter to Nickelodeon:

1) The Jimmy Neutron movie was very popular and was the third ranking movie in the ENTIRE country. That's really saying something.

2) It was nominated for an Oscar...obviously the story was fabulous or that never would have happened

3) Jimmy Neutron has won two Annie Awards (which are like the "Oscars" of Animated shows). One was for Outstanding Achievement in an Animated Television Production Produced For Children and the other was for Voice Acting in an Animated Television Production: Jeff Garcia as the voice of Sheen Estevez. But of course, we all know how talented he is.

4) Jimmy Neutron was the only Nick big screen movie to have been made into a series. Usually movie premiers spell doom for Nick shows (take The Hey Arnold Movie for example)

Those are four very good, logical reasons why JN should be kept on the air. It has a wide and loyal fanbase and would get better ratings if they actually played new episodes once in a while.

MORE OPTIONS

OK, a little bit more, then I’ll be done. I’m sure you all remember “Paul”…the three eyed monkey who always says “Hi, I’m Paul” after every JN episodes. He is the logo for DNA Productions, which is a company in Dallas Texas that has been creating AWESOME 3-D animated projects since 1987. It has an excellent staff that is talented at script writing, directing, and producing. DNA is owned by John A. Davis and Keith Alcorn, the creator and Director of Jimmy Neutron.
Now, as you may know, one of the reasons that “Hey Arnold” was canceled was because the creator, Craig Bartlett, left Nickelodeon. This is not the case with John Davis and Keith Alcorn. Both men are campaigning to save their show despite Nick’s apparent lack of interest in ordering a season 4. I think that their hard work deserves a reward…they need to know that Jimmy Neutron DOES have fans out there and we really hope that the show stays on the air. So, if you get the time, you might want to write a letter to them. Here’s the address:

DNA Productions, Inc.
2201 West Royal Lane, Suite 275
Irving, Texas 75063

Or, if you want to check them out online, click here

Are you really anxious to save JN? Try some of these other ideas too:

    1) Send Nickelodeon a flurry of Postcards.
    2) Contact companies that regular advertise during the show. Tell them you see their commercials whenever JN is on.
    3) Mail in your receipts from Jimmy Neutron products that you’ve purchased to Nickelodeon (e.g. DVD receipt.)
    4) Write a letter to Nickelodeon online: click here

Hopefully, with persistence and good luck, Nick will realize how much fans love JN, and they will order a season 4. Then, if they make some more episodes, they won’t have to spread out their last few episodes and starve us for new material. Your help is much appreciated!
